What is Exposures?

Exposures is a cross‐cultural media exchange program between a Lakota reservation in South Dakota and Insight Photography in Brattleboro, VT. We began this blog is a forum for youth from Vermont and South Dakota to communicate with one another and share their work across the web.

After a lot of dialogue between the reservation and Insight, the Exposures program kicked-off in Spring of 2009. A group of Marlboro College students became mentors to six Brattleboro youth, facilitating a series of classes encouraging youth to explore themes relating to thier own community in thier work. The projects created from this first set of classes are showcased on this blog.

We hope to continue this project by encouraging a group of youth from the reservation to post similarly themed projects on this blog this summer, and following up with an Insight class this upcoming Fall.
